  • – teacher, speaker and autism advocate first became a published author at 17. She has been writing “ever since.”

    She has worked with all forms of media. She wrote and recorded thousands of jingles for Hotliner’s ®, her own online advertising agency, and several radio stations. She volunteered in front of and behind the camera for Channel 8 fund-raising auctions, and she worked as a copy editor for the Pueblo Chieftain newspaper.

    Her column: Beyond the Spectrum appeared in the Autism At Home Series® for its duration in 2009. She was also the volunteer Membership Chair from 2004 – 2009 for the Colorado Independent Publishers Association.

    Her first book, When I Was a Little Boy, by Jesus, self-published in 2003, won an EVVY award. Her second book, Fire & Ice, was picked up by Tate Publishing. Her third book, The Journey home From Autism was released on January 1, 2010. So far it has won a 1st place INDIE and an EVVY award. In 2012, she published her 10-year-old son’s first book, Asperger’s Rhymes with Bass Burgers. Since 2003, she has worked to teach over 7,000 special children to write and illustrate 64 stories. She will begin to release theses stories as published books, along with four stories her older son with Asperger’s Syndrome (now 13) has written, in 2013.

    She has been nominated to the “Who’s Who” in several categories and she has spoke all over the United States. With over 10,000 logged hours of research in the field of Autistic Spectrum Disorders, her programs for adults reflect her research and her personal experience with her son. Teaching other children with special abilities became her mission after witnessing their reactions to her son’s first book. When they feel like a winner they act like a winner. When they act like a winner other people treat them like a winner. All children deserve to be an award winner.
